TOPIC: Pay for the new movie?

In
the last US Chapters Teamspeak meeting, Peter mentioned giving Z3 for
free to all of the chapter coordinators to show in their local areas.
Chapter coordinators are going to have to sign a contract, and the
income generated from showing the movie will be monitored so it is only
used to support the local chapter itself. This would allow for chapters
to create revenue and spread our ideas, while still allowing Peter to
recoup some of his financial costs through $5 DVD sales. After some time
has passed, I imagine the movie will be made available for free online.
Thanks Parker.
Here is the deal. The work will undergo immediate subtitling when ready- likely 15-20 languages.
Then, it will ideally have a global release through the chapters is as
many locations as possible. I will forgo any income on this and arrange
with the chapter heads to fund their own theatrical event - keeping any
income they obtain - which is to be used only for future promo work for
that chapter. This will be monitored and I will be very strict. I am
doing this to try and help the chapters get a little money to work with,
while also giving them a model of obtaining new members. In other
words, after the screening, I hope each chapter will do their own Q
& A and it will become more communal and create more members. I
prefer this still to "donations". We don't have the legal structure for
donations at this time and I still don't feel it is needed overall and
can create corruption.
The internet release will be free online, but it will be delayed due to
my interest to see a physical presence in each chapter screening-
drawing an audience- along with the interest to qualify for the Academy
Awards. This isn't an ego issue...I couldn't care less to "win" but if
the work was at least nominated (and given the mass release it might
have globally it will put it on their radar) it would help the exposure
of the movement dramatically.
With that, they have rules and I cant have the film online for a certain
period of time (a number of weeks). Granted- if the film just
"happened" to pop up in un-official channels outside of my control, I
will likely look the other way and the academy can't disqualify me for
3rd party "piracy" winkwink
There will also be a huge PR campaign with film festivals and press
submissions/reviews. I'm sure it will be trashed by most reviewers, but
who cares. The work is massive and multi-dimensional... near 3 hours, I
suspect, with extremely high end graphic/live action work that is
unprecedented in my prior films, coupled around the straight forward
documentary style.
Looks like Mid Jan for Release.
I can only hope I make back the extreme costs= of this with the 5$ dvd
sales - yes- even with inflation I am keeping the poetic statement of
the 5$ model through zeitgeistmovie.com

You said it, Ruffstylz!

That is so fantastic! A
big PR campaign...massive global release (hopefully); and maybe even
qualifying for the Academy Awards? YAY! That update fills my heart
with joy.
I can't wait to have a screening in my town and to advertise the hell
out of it! I imagine that a lot of effort has gone into making this
film, so let's (as Chapters) put our own energy into making this the
biggest, baddest release ever. We can all make this happen.

I suspect it would be wise to make graphics available for people who want to display posters.

Yes, graphics for the
new film would be great. The brighter and more eye-catching, the
better, of course; I have an entire college campus to saturate.
As an aside, I just discovered this relatively inexpensive site to create stickers, pins, etc. www.cafepress.com/make/personalized-gifts
Just throwing it out there--I'm reminded every day that my Zeitgeist
bumper sticker gets more advertising done in a day that I ever could in
person. And handing out pins or stickers (with zeitgeist/your chapter
and a cute logo on them) at the premiere might be worthwhile.
